Wireless City

Brand your ccommunity as the one of the nation’s premier wireless cities.

With the help of universities, colleges, tech schools, county government, coffees shops and other local businesses, it would be possible to give free internet coverage across much of your city.  From the moment a visitor lands in the airport, to when she goes to a conference, or while working in the business district, one could have wireless internet access.  It can be extended to Park and Ride areas, bus stops, and City Hall.  The city can give tax breaks to those offering free access. 

Examples from across the world:

• Calgary tries Wi-Fi as way to make the city seem more welcoming to high-tech jobs.  Calgary’s reputation as a centre of excellence in the wireless technology sector will be put to the test in an exciting initiative, called Wireless City, funded in part by the Government of Canada.
