Creating Historic Districts

Where do you like to go when you visit New York City? Greenwich Village? The Upper East Side?  SoHo, Tribeca,  or maybe the South Street Seaport?

All of these places are historic districts, and New York City has more than 80 such areas -- composed of about 20,000 buildings -- all carefully regulated by its Landmarks Preservation Commission.
