Price Fixing on Pain Resolution Resolution on Antitrust Exemption for Physician Cartels People will often pay everything they can to get rid of pain. This ALEC Resolution urges states to exempt doctors from antitrust laws, allowing them to communicate about price-fixing for patients. With millions of Americans lacking in health insurance and facing an economy that in which quality, family-supporting jobs are difficult to find, states need to offer as comprehensive a health insurance system as possible. Yet, bills are being introduced in state legislatures around the country to limit the benefits that workers receive. For example, Georgia is considering a bill, SB 50-Seabaugh, called the “Georgia Consumer Choice of Benefits Health Insurance Act” that would allow employers to offer health insurance plans that exclude part or all of the state mandated health benefits. |
