Assaulting Education ALEC argues that privatized service delivery is the best way to cost-effectively purvey public services. They''re probably right, if the goal is for companies to make money. Private business has a simple bottom line: Profits. Government -- on the other hand -- is about good choices, morality and values. Schools are expected to educate our children, not turn a profit. When you set up a private system where schools can turn away some but not others, based on how much money they can make, many of our children will be left behind. If you want businesses to make money, Privatize. If you want government to take the High Road, choose morality over money and let public schools educate our children. The bills listed to your right lead down a low road path where many of our children will be left behind. Please educate yourself about what they do, so you can be informed if they pop up in your state. |
