HighRoadNow > Low Road Practices |
|||
Detour If you want to avoid taking the low road, you have to know it when you see it. The American Heritage® Dictionary defines Low Road as: NOUN: Behavior or practice that is deceitful or immoral. The American Legislative Issue Campaign Exchange (ALICE) defines low road as those policies that hurt workers, leave children behind, target the poor, damage the environment, hinder education, distort the facts or obfuscate government accountability. Many of these worst practices listed to your right have Orwellian names such as the "Right to Work Act" . . . which could be better characterized as the "Right to Work for Less" Act. Many of these extreme right wing groups put "model" legislation out under the guise of best practices. Our goal is to shine light on these low road policies so you can be aware of their titles if they are introduced into your state legislature. We put them in one place -- for all to see -- and call them what the really are: The Low Road.
