Hurting Workers Question: Why would an organization promote "model" legislation in order to stop living wage, pay workers less, make the workplace unsafe, punish labor organizing, or make it difficult to pay labor dues? Answer: Money. The American Legislative Exchange Council recieves over $5 Million every year from big business. In exchange, ALEC promotes Anti-Worker legislation across the states. For more information on the big businesses behind ALEC, go to www.alecwatch.org. To track other right-wing anti-worker groups, visit "Eye on Corporate America". We've listed some worst practices in the red box to your right. This anti-worker legislation is a road block to the high road, so keep your eye out for these less-than-model laws and prepare to detour around them. |
