Responsible Contractor Ordinances 

These local laws Ban city and county governments from doing business with firms with records of violating various regulatory standards.  They can also require businesses applying for or selected to perform public work to disclose violations when they occur.  They are particularly useful in promoting high road standards in the construction sector.
