City Conservation Programs

The San Diego City Council adopted policies for Energy Conservation, Sustainable Buildings & Energy Efficient Purchasing  in June 2001. In his first State of the City Address, Mayor Dick Murphy set the goal to Pursue Energy Independence for the City of San Diego (January 2001).

 San Diego also launched a year-round Energy Conservation Action Plan. In fiscal year 2001-02, the City's overall energy costs were reduced by 13 percent (August 2002).
